Post Your Wins

I recall the old days; I meditate on all you have done; I reflect on your accomplishments. ~ Psalm 143:5

The administrator of a Facebook group asked us to ‘post our wins, no matter how small’. To start the conversation, she posted a comment on one thing that she accomplished that week. Someone followed with a accomplishment, then another. I took notice of ‘no matter how small’. Well, I did my daily blogs, I went to work every day…hmmm I had a couple of successful coaching sessions. Oh, and the magazine this published week!

The Purpose of the Post

This was not a bragging post. It was designed for the group members to focus on the positive so that we would continue to move forward.

In our last leadership meeting, our pastor Bishop Michael Curtis Jr., presented us with the Power of Positive Thinking (Barbara Frederickson, UNC). To quote the study,

“feelings of positive emotions helps you to identify more possibilities and options in your life”
and
“extra possibilities and options seem to translate into action”

Get Unstuck

When we don’t see large wins, it becomes easy to dismiss our smaller accomplishments. But acknowledging what God has allowed you to complete this week may be what is needed to push you towards your purpose.

Don’t wake up worrying about what you did not see accomplished. Think positive, celebrate your wins and continue to move on Purpose!

I Won’t Complain

Bless our God, O peoples, give Him grateful thanks and make the voice of His praise be heard, ~ Psalm 66:8

Are you a praiser or a complainer?

My mother’s favorite song is “I won’t complain”, the version by the late Rev. Paul Jones. The words of the song explain that in every situation, God is still good. His goodness and mercy will counteract and overpower any negative situation that comes against us.

Whether we have good days or bad days, we still have a right and a responsibility to praise God. Should we offer Him our complaints more than our praise? The songwriter says that if he should count them, he would find that his good days will always outweigh his bad days.

With God, our good moments and hours throughout the day will always outweigh the bad. Take a few moments away to give God thanks, and let the voice of His praise be heard.

By the way, the song is pretty awesome. Click here to listen and recharge your day with thanks. Enjoy your tea!

Taking Him out of the Box

I rise before dawn and cry for help; I wait for Your words.~ Psalm 119:14

Last week, I was expecting an important piece of mail. I had hoped for it on Tuesday, expected it on Wednesday and nearly chased the mail carrier down for it Thursday.

My mail carrier delivers faithfully but I rarely celebrate her arrival  until she brings something that I want. Usually, I can leave the mail in the box for days. When I don’t need something, I don’t think about her at all.

How I put God in a box

I often hear, “Don’t wait to call on God when you need Him. Talk to Him all the time.” Admittedly, when things get tough, I talk to Him a lot more than usual. The sense of worry drives me to seek immediate answers and instant gratification from my trouble.

It isn’t a good look. I know that He is so much more than a problem solver. My actions put God in a box. My actions say that “I am going to seek you now because I need you now. But I may not neccesarily seek you tomorrow, if this gets fixed today.” When I don’t seek Him daily, I don’t have the full relationhip or benefit of being in His presence. I don’t get to hear His voice everyday.

Ouch. I have to do better

I desire to have a stronger and more meaningful relationship with God. Let me seek Him with the same intensity each morning. Let me desire to hear His words in my life every day. Let me get up earlier so that I don’t rush His time.

I’m stepping on my own toes this morning. Beginning tomorrow,  I’ll be getting up earlier. Enjoy your coffee and power up your day.

Satisfied

Oh satisfy us in the morning with thy lovingkindness, That we may rejoice and be glad all our days. ~ Psalm 90:14

In my ‘day job’, I work with loan products daily. When a loan is paid off, we appropriately use the term, satisfied. Satisfied is an indication that something was missing. Something needed to be repaidand someone had to do enough.

When the children of Israel walked through the wilderness, God provided for their needs daily. Each morning, manna was provided as a provision to satisfy their hunger. It was enough to sustain them even though they expended energy as they walked.

Whatever is missing in our lives, where ever there is a need to bring us to wholeness, His lovingkindness is enough to satisfy. We never have to ‘wake up worrying’ because He has enough provision for us each day. Seek Him and allow Him to show you how He has made a way to supply your every need.

Shift the mood. Rejoice in His satisfaction. Enjoy your coffee and Power up your day!

Peace on Purpose

You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you. ~ Isaiah 26:3

“There is a lot on your plate. how do you balance it all?”

Most of us have been presented this question. We all have a lot on our plates. When we live our lives based on ‘purpose’, this comes with the territory.

Having a lot on the plate does not have to equate to being stressed out. We can have responsibilities without becoming burned out. We can have extra tasks and not become frazzled.

In the midst of all that we do, and all that we plan to do, we have an all powerful and unchanging God who we can always rely on to keep us in perfect peace. Remember to keep your mind stayed on Him. Walk and work with purpose and peace.

Stay peaceful, enjoy your coffee and Power up your day!

Opportunities

Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith. ~ Galatians 6:10

This past weekend, much of the east coast was turned into a winter wonderland. Even in the south, snow and ice caused many places to close. For safety’s sake, there were many churches who made the decision not to open.

What an opportunity!

Churches who’s doors were opened, streamed their services live. Others made use of conference calls to keep the congregations together. I witnessed first hand, because of the outreach, were the many visitors who joined in the live streams and calls. My church alone had a large amount of visitors who called in from several different states.

In every situation, remember the opportunities that come with fulfilling your purpose. Sometimes, things are shaken up just to show us how much more we have inside of us.

Be safe and stay warm this morning. Enjoy your coffee and power up your day.

Start Better Mornings

Now may the Lord of peace Himself give you peace always in every way. The Lord be with you all. ~ 2 Thessalonians 3:16

Most of us see the morning as the beginning of the day. But if you are on the traditional schedule, by the time we wake up, we are nearly halfway through the day. The start of a new day is at midnight. And the bible tells us in Genesis that the evening came prior to the morning, and the two made the first day.

Preparing for our best days does not necessarily begin in the morning. Our best days can start in the evening.  There are things we can do in the evening to ensure that our morning is not a time of confusion or worry.

Prepare clothes for work/ school – Prepare your power outfits in the evenings. You will know ahead of time if something is missing or not quite the right fit.

Meal prep your breakfast/lunch and snacks – 20 minutes in the evening goes a lot smoother than 20 minutes in the morning

Put things away, (dishes, clothes, toys) – no need to wake up to last night’s clutter

Get to bed earlier – Set a time to shut everything down, including television, smart phones, social media and the lights. Our bodies and brains deserve those hours of uninterrupted rest

Pray and Trust God – Trust that even in our sleep, He is working on our behalf. We take our hands off everything and know that God will take care of us

What can you do this evening to make tomorrow morning an even better morning? Things to ponder as you  enjoy your coffee and power up your day!
