Where did the Time go?

So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom. Psalm 90:12

The last Friday of 2016. Where did the time go?

I’ve been asking myself this questions since just before Christmas.  Where did the time go? The end of the year seemed to appear out of nowhere. One more day and we are moving on to a New Year.

Time is our precious commodity. The scripture is a reminder for us to apply our days with wisdom. And where time-management may be an issue, pray for wisdom in this area.

I don’t want to get through half of 2017 and say ‘where did the time go!’ To quote my pastor, Bishop Michael B. Curtis Jr, “when we don’t plan our time, we give room to the enemy to distract us from our resource of time.”

This morning, I am not just thinking of how to be a better time manager, but I am praying for his instruction and for wisdom throughout 2017.

Feeding on His Faithfulness

Trust in the Lord, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. Psalm 37:3

We believe God is faithful when all is well. And we learn that He is faithful when we are in need.

Being in need can spark actions based on emotions. Need money right away, take out a high interest loan…Need attention, seek attention…I’ve been there and every decision that I made out of emotions and needs, turned out to be disastrous. Then I still had to come back, and simply trust in God.

Whenever we find a need to be filled in our lives, we can feed and be fulfilled on His faithfulness. Surely, God is enough. His supply is endless and His process is life-changing.

Should you find yourself in a season of lack or in an uncomfortable place, trust in the Lord. Feed on his faithfulness. Surely, He will fulfill every need.

Enjoy your cup of coffee and power up your day!

Putting things in Order

Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart. ~ Psalm 37:4

It is the day after Christmas and I woke up with this on my mind…I have a week to get my life in order!

Tradition tells me to go into the New Year the way I want my entire year to be. So I have laundry to get done and closets to purge. I  have pre-planned by completing my 2017 vision board and am working on my 2017  One Hundred Day Plan.

But before I pursue another thing, I must first find my delight and desires in God alone.

Trusting in God means trusting His plan. His plan places Him first.  His plan does not leave us lacking. His plan does not leave us chasing after our desires, for He will give us the desires of our heart.

For 2017,  I am seeking to be delighted and satisfied with the Lord. Everything I touch, from my writing and to my career, will be in the position of my reverence and service to Him. No more chasing after desires but I am placing my delight in the Lord.

Enjoy your coffee and power up your day by choosing to be delighted in Him!

And His Name will be Called Wonderful

For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. ~ Isaiah 9:6

I had the hardest time resting last night. I skipped Christmas shopping this year. But how would I face so many people that I love without a gift  in my hand?

Why did I skip? Well, I literally just went back to work two weeks ago.  I’ve been on leave for nearly 3 months.  The small amount of money that I do have,  just wasn’t enough to purchase the gifts that I wanted to give. I was trying to make purchases that equaled the love that I have for my friends and family.  Except no amount of money or gifts could ever equal my love for them.

Then this scripture began to reveal itself to me.  John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth on him should not perish,  but have everlasting life.  That is the true gift of love. The gift that could not be purchased or bargained. The life of Jesus Christ,  the predetermined gift of life, born for the purpose of saving us to eternal life.

I’ll get some gifts together this morning. (I won’t stress over it!) and I’ll let everyone know that I love them.  But I’ll be sure to remind everyone of the greatest gift that we celebrate today.

Be sure to share the awesome gift of your love today. Let someone hear voice today. Check in on the elederly and shut in. For someone, your presence will be their perfect gift.

Have a Merry and Blessed Christmas! Enjoy your cup of coffee and power up your day!

The Birth of Promise

And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn. ~ Luke 2:7

Here Mary, the young virgin, has carried the child of promise. But now that he is born, she has to resort to laying him in a manger.

Both Mary and Joseph received angelic visitation, promising that this child was the redeemer, the savior. He would be the one that the entire nation had hoped and prayed for. Surely, God would have made provision for the promise to be birthed, someone would have a large room, clean and ready for the birth of a king!sunrise-1886334_1920

In spite of the humble birth, Mary cared for her promise! She used everything that she had to care for her newborn.

When a promise is birthed, it does not always look the way we expect it to look. When we have nurtured and cared for the gifts that God places inside of us, we naturally have great expectation: best selling books, filled auditoriums, people flocking to our businesses.

Encourage yourself this morning by reflecting on what God has promised you. What looks like a humble birth of your promise, may very well be the beginning of great ministry.

Enjoy your cup of coffee and power up your day being confident in promise.

The Importance of “You”

And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins. ~ Matthew 1:21

I usually only think about Joseph during the Christmas Season. And before this Christmas, I never realized his purpose. I did not see his value except for being the ‘supposed’ father of the earthly Jesus.

But that’s that point. Joseph served as a father.

As the head of the home, he was obedient to God from the time he found out about Mary’s pregnancy. Knowing the baby was not his, his first instinct was to have a quiet divorce. After being visited by the angel, he understood his purpose. He would serve as the earthly father of the awaited Messiah!

Joseph surely protected the life of Mary and the unborn Jesus. He honored Mary, her body and the child with abstinence until He was born. He moved his family to Egypt to keep Jesus from being killed from the decree Herod made. He was responsible for the life of the life that would save us.

Often, it is the people behind the scenes that perform the most important tasks. And if you are that person, sometimes it can get lonely or even a little frustrating . People do not always recognize your value because they do not see how much effort you put forth.

Whether you are up front or behind the scenes, always remember that the fulfilling your purpose is important to God’s purpose and plan.

Remember your Purpose! Enjoy your cup of coffee and power up your day.

He’s a Keeper

I will lift mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.  My help cometh from the Lord, which made Heaven and earth, he will not suffer thy foot to be moved.  He that keeps thee will not slumber. ~ Psalms 121:1 -2

I can humbly say that I was a worrier. I worried about everything; money, bills, where my next meal would come from. I couldn’t turn the thinking part of my mind off.  And it took God taking all of my resources and supply away, in order to get through to me.

I learned that when God says that He will supply, that is exactly what He will do. It may not be when we expect him to show up, but by Him being the God that he is, he will show up on his time and not ours.  When you don’t see immediate results, don’t get mad, just call on His name and he will give you the strength to bear whatever it is you are facing.

God told us in his word to look to the hills not man, because that is where our help would be coming from. He will not let anything that is not like him come to harm or destroy us. He even promised that he would give us the desires of our heart. So when you let God know what it is that you need all you have to do is Work your faith and leave your burdens to him, because he is able.

Lift up a praise and live your life in expectancy! Whatever the situation, He is already there and has the solution before the problem occurs.
