Who are you doing it for?

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward.  It is the Lord Christ you are serving.  Colossians 3:23-24

When it comes to anything you want to do it life, who are you doing it for?  Your parents, husband, wife, children, self, boss or co-worker.  According to Colossians 3:23-24, everything we do, we should do as if we are working for the Lord.  When you are on your job, you should be working for the Lord, not your boss or co-workers.  When you are losing weight, you should lose weight for the Lord (so He can use you more than He is now, just imagine what you could be doing for the Lord if you were in perfect health).

When we work until the Lord we will receive a reward from the Lord.  There is no better reward we can receive than the reward we get from the Lord.  Think of all the inheritance you can receive from the Lord.  What has the Lord giving you for working for Him?

Facing temptation

Consider it pure joy, my bothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. James 1:2-3 (NIV)

We face many trials and temptations on a daily basis.  The word considers let’s us know that we have a choice in the matter.  We can count is our joy or we can be worried or stressed out about the situation.

When on a weight loss journey there are so many temptations you face.  The one thing that makes the temptation hard is when you tell someone, no thank you, and they are very persistent.  You may have to tell them more than once, don’t back down.

This is when you have to realize that you can persevere through the temptation, pressure of others and that if you can conquer the temptation once you can conquer it again.

Do you have a plan?

Proverbs 15:22 (NIV) states, “Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed.  First let me ask you, when it come to anything you want to do in life, lose weight, find a job, get a raise, or be successful, do you have a plan?  If you don’t have a plan, come up with a plan on how to reach your goals.  After you have a plan, reach out to someone you trust that can give you honest feedback on your plan.

Getting feedback from others will help you to reach your goals, but make sure it is good counsel you are receiving from the person.  Ask God to send you good counsel to help you to reach you goals or write down the names of a few people you can ask for wise counsel.  But don’t just write down their names, call them and ask them for advice. Stop trying to do everything on your own.

Where are you casting your cares?

When you get frustrated, upset, mad, angry who is the first person you call?  Some of us call our mother or father, best friend, psychiatrist or co-worker.  But how many of us call on God first?

1st Peter 5:7 (NKJC) tells us to, “Cast all your care upon him, for he cares for you.”  The next time you are worried about a relationship, you job, your children, marriage, car, sickness, death or finances, humble yourself before God, cast every one of your cares upon Him and receive his grace.  God cares about us and wants us not to worry about all that we go through.  He gives us His grace to get through everything we encounter in life.

We are the peacemakers

When it comes to our health, there are many areas we can improve our health in besides our physical health.  Today’s blog post is about relational health.  The bible says in Matthew 5:9 (NIV), “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.”

When you find yourself in an argument with our spouse, a co-worker, family members, children or even strangers, we are called to be peacemakers.  Why? Because we are to follow God’s lead.  God is a peacemaker and has called us to be peacemakers also.  Imagine the amount of stress you don’t feel when you have peace. We should want others to feel the same peace God gives to us.  Sometimes to be the peacemaker, we have to walk away from the situation.  Once everyone has calmed down, we discuss the situation with the party or parties to resolve the issue, if it can be resolved.

If we find it hard to be the peacemaker, we should ask God to show us how to be the peacemaker He has called us to be.

Are you emotionally tired?

Matthew 11:28-30 (NIV)  28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Are you emotionally tired?  There are times in our lives where we become overwhelmed with life.  We become emotionally tired and want to withdraw from the world.  We we become weary, tired, burdened by work, family and friends, this is when we need to go to God for rest.  Take your cares to the God in prayer and watch the peace and rest you will have when you give it all over to him.
