Fear-Free Living // Part 3

For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord . “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. ~ Jeremiah 29:11

Circumstances in life can sometimes leave us feeling uncertain and fearful about the future.

I recall a time when the Lord spoke these words to me: “Colette, I have a plan for your life and I INTEND to fulfill that plan.” My heart clung to His every word. I knew that He wanted me to understand His heart and His intentions for me and that He was inviting me to trust Him and remain in His love.

In any successful human friendship or relationship, there must be a foundation of trust and love and the same is true in our relationship with God. When we are grounded in His love for us, fear doesn’t stand a chance!

Having an understanding of the heart of the Father towards us individually changes everything.

Knowing that:

  1. He loves you
  2. Nothing can ever change His love for you
  3. He’s on your side and will help you succeed
  4. He causes your heart to rest in assurance that you will see the promise, the goal, and the dream fulfilled

1 John 4:18 says that perfect love expels fear…the two cannot work together. We will either take a position of trust and abide in the love of the Father or one of fear, worry and self-reliance….but it’ll never be both.

My Prayer For You:
Father, I come before you today praying for those reading this post.  Lord, please give them a deeper understanding of you and your love for them. Take them on a journey revealing to them how to live a life free from fear and helping them to know that you have a plan for them and that you intend to fulfill it. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Friends, embrace a life of freedom – free from all fear!

Fear Free Living // Part 2

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9

We all face times in life that can seem overwhelming and where we can become inundated with thoughts and feelings of inadequacy. Oxford dictionary defines the word inadequate as “lacking the quality or quantity required; insufficient for a purpose.”

As a single mother, I’ve always wanted to make sure that my children were well taken care of. At  times, I’d become overwhelmed with feelings of inadequacy, “How was I, a young mom, going to be able to juggle the demands of raising a family….alone?” I came to realize that those feelings of inadequacy were fear disguised.

The Bible is filled with accounts of people who just like you and me dealt with these same types of thoughts. A constant theme woven throughout scripture is God saying to His children, “Do not be afraid….You’re not alone…I am with you in this.” As a parent, I’ve said this to my own children, “Come on…you can do it…I’ll catch you.” In both cases, the child must enter that place of trust….confident that they will not be let down.

Rather than carrying the burden of single-parenting, I decided to grab a hold of some of the promises I found in the Bible that would build my faith and trust in God in this area. In doing this, I’ve become confident in God’s love and care for me and as a result have seen His faithfulness time and again.

When we are grounded in His love for us, fear doesn’t stand a chance! More on this tomorrow….☕

Fear-Free Living // Part 1

Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me. ~ Psalms 23:4

When was the last time you did something that was outside of your norm? Has it been a while? Maybe you are like I was, satisfied with the way things have always been. In a world that’s ever changing, we can find ourselves paralyzed to the future that we’re destined for because of fear.

Fear is crippling and has hindered so many from being able to move forward. The good news is that fear doesn’t have to have the final word over any area of your life!

Camouflaged Fear

Over the past few years, the Lord has unmasked many hidden fears in my own life: The fear of going alone, the fear of rejection, the fear of not being good enough, the fear of speaking up or speaking out…..the list goes on.

I figured that all of these things were “just the way I was” but the Lord revealed to me that these things were rooted in fear and had been strategically camouflaged with an attempt to hinder me from fully becoming who He created me to be, from taking the next step, from walking by faith. God identified these things and called them out for what they really were.

Ending the reign of fear

I’ve made a commitment to not allow fear to reign in my life and have found freedom on so many levels!

Today, I encourage you to allow God to call out those camouflaged areas of fear in your life, so that you’re able to experience the fullness that He has for you.

Join me tomorrow morning for coffee as I share more on this life-changing topic. ☕
